Magnet
(n.) (from the Greek adamas meaning diamond) Material (natural iron oxide) or device that attracts particularly iron and its alloys. Magnets are used in compass needles, speakers, and car alternators. A magnet has two poles: a north and a south. Like electrical charges, two poles of the same name repel each other, and two poles of different names attract each other. By superimposing them in a suitable container, one can make one float in the air. This property is used by trains that operate by magnetic levitation and use superconducting materials as magnets.

Myopic
(adj.) Describes an eye that is too convergent. The vision of distant objects is blurry.
