French Version

I- Choice of glassware

To measure the volume very precisely, you should use a graduated cylinder because it is the finest (narrowest) container.

II- Unit of volume or capacity

The unit of volume of a graduated cylinder is the milliliter (mL) or cubic centimeter (cm3).
It is indicated at the top of the cylinder.

III- A division (1 div)

A division is the volume present between two successive traits of the graduation.

It is indicated at the top of the cylinder.

IV- Meniscus and volume reading

A meniscus is the curved free surface of a liquid present in a narrow container such as a graduated cylinder.

To read the volume of the liquid, you must place your eye at the level of the free surface and aim at the base of the meniscus.
